Kvartirnik as a format of musical direction appeared in the period of the USSR, when musicians gathered in the apartments of friends and arranged improvised concerts, mainly in the rock style. Boris Grebenshchikov, one of the founders of the format, together with other then – beginning performers, and today – already legends of Russian rock-arranged apartment parties and sang his songs, which eventually became part of the "Golden Collection" of Russian music. Well! Again "Kvartirnik"– now on a different occasion, but with the same energy!

World Domination Gardening

This project started with video from a three day workshop. The workshop covered the earthworks for building a pond without a liner, a swale, and a hugelkultur bed on a terrace. Then we added more footage by doing the same workshop over again in a colder climate. A year later, we returned to the first workshop site and added even more footage! 55 years ago Pete Seeger didn't name names at the McCarthy hearings and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Out on appeal, blacklisted, watched by the FBI, he buys an old camera. With his wife Toshi, they start filming their musician friends. After several years of making small films, they decide to take the family around-the-world to film musicians in the most remote corners of the earth.
