«All my mom’s teeth fell out, I’m only going for about three months and I return» was what Pancho dreamed of fulfilling when he crossed the US border without papers, but an accident during the trip transformed his life and his aunt Margarita.

Rita, the documentary

An aesthetic and politic portrait of Mexico ́s 90s decade through the biography of artist Rita Guerrero (1964-2011), who developed in different fields, mostly music and theater. She was the vocalist of Santa Sabina, a rock band in which she was the most remarkable figure. She committed herself to different social movements such as the Zapatista Army Movement (EZLN) and the Electoral Left. She died at 46 from breast cancer. Her voice and music left a mark on a generation.

El sueño de la actriz

At the age of 17, she had the opportunity to appear on television, but she didn't, due to her insecurities. Sylvia remembers it as the day she almost fulfilled her dream of being famous thanks to her own songs. Using a camera that was at her side at all times, she documented her entire life: her children's childhood, her days as a physical education teacher, family vacations, but above all the private moments, where she allowed herself to act, sing and talk to a public that was not there.

Forbidden Songs of the Earth

One song traces a pathway from oral poet and Mazatec shaman Maria Sabina's tradition to Mazatec rapper Xéti NdáJnio and Medicine woman Zara Monrroy, also a poet, rapper and dancer from the Comcaac Nation. Two stories of indigenous rappers struggling to sing in their mother tongue.

In the town of Xoco, the spirit of an old villager awakens in search of its lost home. Along its journey, the ghost discovers that the town still celebrates its most important festivities, but also learns that the construction of a new commercial complex called Mítikah will threaten the existence of both the traditions and the town itself.

A place with stairs, but that leads to walls. A place with lots of space, but no one fights for it. And a place with lots of owners, but so empty that no one wants to enter.

Copal Dreams

The communities of San Martin Tilcajete and San Antonio Arrazola in Oaxaca, Mexico are best known for being the main source of the "Alebrijes" (wood carving) in the state; a relatively new but powerful tradition in mexican folklore. In both communities, there is a family that claims they're father started this tradition in all the state of Oaxaca.

One Way Trip

Two young women try to adapt to a new city: nostalgia, loneliness, friendship and family are mixed throughout the emotional process of both characters. A reflection on the sense of belonging and the experience of being a foreigner.

The Black Dog

Since Rosa was little, people used to say around town that her grandfather was a black dog. The legend, belonging to the Valley of Oaxaca, spoke of a man who had the ability to turn into a black dog and roam the streets at night. Through images of the town, interviews with the brothers and animated interventions, the documentary tells the story of the myth and its importance in the collective memory.

África

Africa, a trans woman dedicated to musical representation and comic entertainment on Facebook exhibits her daily life through live broadcasts, having success and a large influx of viewers. This while she is getting ready for her special program in honor of her best friend Vicenta de Loris, since a year has passed since her life was taken from her.

The Phantom Liberty

Art is a freedom for those who make it and for those who look at it. A freedom that ends when the violence starts. In Mexico, every day eleven women are murdered and in more than ninety percent of the cases impunity prevails. Through the testimony of seven women, this documentary essay reflects on femicide and the destruction that this leaves a country and its culture. Because in times of horror, art cannot be the same, every time a woman is murdered, a museum or a library collapses in the world.
